A Bespoke Fine Art Mural for the Hunt Museum Café
Studio GBM was proud to attend the soft launch of the newly refurbished café at the Hunt Museum, an exciting project that beautifully blends heritage, architecture and contemporary design.
Housed in one of Limerick City’s most significant examples of mid-eighteenth-century classical architecture, the Hunt Museum is an iconic landmark designed by Italian architect Daviso de Arcort. The recent refurbishment of its café space honours this rich history while introducing fresh artistic elements to enhance the visitor experience.
The Only Irish Company Printing Fine Art at This Scale
Studio GBM was honoured to be commissioned to produce a bespoke fine art print mural for the new space. As the only Irish company with the capacity to deliver fine art printing at such a large scale, we were uniquely positioned to bring this vision to life.
The Artwork: A William Henry Bartlett Print, Donated by Tony Ryan
The selected artwork is a print by William Henry Bartlett, a renowned 19th-century British artist celebrated for his intricately detailed topographical engravings. Bartlett travelled extensively, capturing landscapes, cities and architectural landmarks from across Europe, the Middle East and North America. His works, widely published in travel books of the time, offered vivid visual records of distant places for those who could not see them firsthand.
This particular print, a view of the Custom House, was generously donated to the Hunt Museum by Tony Ryan, co-founder of Ryanair.
How the Mural Was Made
To faithfully reproduce the artwork, the Custom House print was scanned at the highest possible resolution and colour-matched using our accredited ICC colour profiling system. The final mural was printed onto sustainably produced wallpaper manufactured by Antalis, ensuring that the project not only upheld artistic integrity but also met modern environmental standards.
This collaboration is a testament to what can be achieved when heritage, fine art and innovative print technology come together, and we are thrilled to have played a part in it.
